What is a Accounting?
Accounting is the recording of financial transactions along with storing, sorting, retrieving, summarizing, and presenting the results in various reports and analyses. Accounting is also a field of study and profession dedicated to carrying out those tasks.
Accounting is how we measure what is happening in an enterprise. It is the system of measures to assess cash balances, flows and the profit generated from the enterprise. It is the “quantifiable” answer to the questions of how are we doing, how have we done in the past, and what are our prospects for the future.
Accounting is also a control system. It is a system of checks and balances, designed to ensure that critical resources are accounted for, and on a fundamental level, provide controls to deter waste, theft and loss.
